Rudy D. catches up with HDR to hear their side of the story, nuff said: Sit down and listen to the story of three friends who have come from three totally different backgrounds, geographical locations and styles of music to create the power trio, HDR... Joe Mora: HDR’s main singer and only guitar player is a So Cal native who has been abusing himself for years with non stop gigs, parties and an almost diabolical drive to succeed. Amy Tung: A San Francisco classical pianist with a punk engine, she can do it all. shred a fuzzy bass, jam acoustic guitar or light up a keyboard to make people trip and don’t forget her chrissie hynde-like lead vocals she works into HDR’s chameleon like sound. Johnny Lord: A drummer from New England’s Enfield, Connecticut, who needed to move out of the small pond to come to Hollywood CA. to further sharpen his hard hitting style and his already evil street smarts. The thing that separates HDR from all the zillion killer LA bands is that they’re three people who love to play slammin’, heavy, beer pounding, whiskey shootin’, high energy music who have powerful personalities to boot. HDR gives Los Angeles another gold medal to add to its music collection. So if you’re a life lovin’, good time havin’, party railin’ soul, come see us rip out a slamming set and party 'til there ain’t none left.

Live From the House of Blues tour with Badfish. An excerpt from the Full Service Diary about the shows: TourSaw with Scotty Don't and Badfish There have been many an amazing tour in the history of this here band. There was, of course, Toursaw I; "the first" always has a special place in the heart. The Takeover Tour, too, was memorable for obvious reasons. But this last tour definitely ranks high. Our friends Scotty Don't (who moonlight as "Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime") invited us to play 4 dates with them in Baton Rouge, Dallas, Houston, and Austin. As the following videos will attest, one of the reasons these shows were exciting was because of the venues and the large crowds (House Of Blues in Dallas and Houston, Varsity Theater in Baton Rouge, and Emo's in Austin). But perhaps more importantly, the shows will forever go down in history because of the bond we formed with a band who proved to be, by the end of our little run with them (they continue on for months after last Sunday's Austin date,) our kindred spirits. They were into playing soccer, they had a trumpet player who was kind enough to sit in with us for "Trumpets," their merch dude was one of the kindest, funniest people we've ever met, their drummer greeted us at our first show with them in Baton Rouge holding an ice bag to his ridiculously swollen black eye (something about defending Pat Benatar against an angry drunk bully after their show in New Orleans?), their singer pins a photo of The Fonz on his amp and skates around on his ripstick inside the venue before shows, and their bass player repeatedly challenged Bonesaw's manhood with competitive banter on and off the field. And not only this, but they work harder than any band we've seen and they play their hearts out every single night. So, many thanks to these guys for the opportunity to play those shows with them. We made a boatload of new fans and we are greatful for that chance.

Badfish is a tribute band dedicated to playing the music of Sublime. The group is named after a song appearing on the album 40 Oz. to Freedom Formed in 2001 at the University of Rhode Island, the group's members, who were computer science majors, began playing local Rhode Island clubs and quickly began selling out shows.[1] They continued touring the East Coast and Midwest of the U.S., becoming popular on college campuses among Sublime fans who never were able to see the band due to Bradley Nowell's 1996 death.[2][3][4] Since then the group has done multiple national tours per year.[5] In 2008, the band was nominated for Best Tribute Act in the Boston Music Awards.[6] The group played 152 shows across the United States in 2006, selling just under 100,000 tickets and grossing $1.4 million in sales.[1] Members of the group also play in a non-tribute act called Scotty Don't, which sometimes acts as the opener at Badfish shows. (courtesy of Wikipedia) Rudy D. opens up our Saturday night Ghost Labor Radio coverage with an interview with members of the band.
